A Universe to Maintain
04:51
|
|||
Traveling down to the ocean’s tide
I saw a man there sitting in starlight, starlight
I asked him what he thought of heaven and of hell
He said the one seems nice but it’s (speculation) just as well
“Here’s a shot in the dark and a universe to maintain
And i live with my past each and every new day
All i want is to stay here by the sea
At least i’m away to watch the gulls succeed
I left all I know for a chance to feel the rain
It’s people that made the world, the world we see today
I was given a life, a personality and such
And i threw it away ‘cause sometimes everything is just not enough."
I traveled back from the ocean’s tide…

Ribbons and Bows
05:19
|
|||
I stumbled right into a place
that seemed like a magical land.
There were dances and shows
done up with Ribbons and Bows.
But underneath the surface, I said,
"It must be like a circus, oh no."
There were elephants and goats
tied up with strings and with ropes.
And all the men and women, they put on their masks
and they carry on and dance around the fireplace.
And they make their sacrifices and they sing about their vices
while the others just have to sit and wait.
What I saw among the light projectors and the music shakers
was a book of divinity. It was wrapped in scrutiny.
It was like nothing I'd ever seen.
The only way to see it and the only way to read it was to join the festivities,
to wrap yourself in white and green.
And all the men and women, they put on their masks
and they carry on and dance around the fireplace.
And they make their sacrifices and they sing about their vices
while the others just have to sit and wait.
When they saw I wasn't one of them,
they told me right away to go home,
so they led me to the road.
The one that leads to Megiddo.
I asked them why they had to be like that and why the put on that act.
I said, "You don't need a show to walk on the right road."
And all the men and women, they put on their masks
and they carry on and dance around the fireplace.
And they make their sacrifices and they sing about their vices
while the others just have to sit and wait.
As I began to walk away, I turned around to see a scene to been seen.
They took those Ribbons and Bows
and hung a noose around each others' throats.

Fairy Tales
03:47
|
|||
Love is the bottom line he said.
Love is the bottom line we gave up, love
to walk away on the road of code,
where the endings rise and the smoke
of love
debates with all the sounds
of what one sentimental ear could repeat
to the temperamental flames of the guns of
the fightings of the saved,
that the Fairy Tales forgave.
And the knight who had to slay the dragon had to be amazed by the wings that the dragon flew by. In the ocean where the sharks lie the artist gently floats by while the builder runs out of bricks, upon an old abandoned ship that gave away the script because the lines had been filled in.
It's a shame to fan an open flam
where love is heard and action fades away.
It is the same that the Fairy Tales forgave.

Don't Leave Home
09:00
|
|||
She was singing from a camp stove,
watering the coals' glow.
I never felt so old,
never saw her hair grow.
I left a message in a tin cup,
went to see what she had made up.
She had an image building on mud
and a secret hidden by flood.
Make sure that you keep them safe from the Devil's Son.
Make sure that they stay close and can't wander on their own.
Don't Leave Home without your gun.
She was singing on to Joan Baez,
drinking with her brides maids,
talking to a strange man,
hoping for a new mess.
She asked me why I stood still,
so I told her of a love lost.
With a wobble and slurred word,
she said she felt the whole world.
Make sure that you keep her safe from the Devil's Son.
Make sure that they stay close and can't wander on their own.
Don't Leave Home without your gun.
She was following and old maid,
making up a deep grave,
flying off a steal rail,
learning how to be frail.
I was watching from a high post,
she was looking for the west coast.
I tried to lead her back home,
she was emerging with her sailboat.
Make sure that you keep her safe from the Devil's Son.
Make sure that she stays close and can't wander on her own.
Don't Leave Home without your gun.

Salt
03:00
|
|||
We give, we take, we give, we take another look
We’re after all the same, the plain, the fame,
the heaven we can see, the heaven we can be
Alone we grow, we flow, we float above the green
The green we cannot see unless the rest is fully make-believe
Like the salt inside the see
Because it’s what
We were supposed to be
Like the salt inside the see, was it what we’re supposed to be?

Will I see the light?
Will I make it out alive?

Rustic Refined
05:46
|
|||
Anyone can find beauty in sex
beauty in gold
Anyone can find beauty where the grass is green
beauty where the air is clean
Anyone can sing what everybody knows and feels
But he chooses not to close his eyes
He chooses against failing his mind
when he sees what happens every time
we flee to look past the golden sky
Where can we find
the answers hidden deep inside
If we only look out
past the mountains we climb?
This is what we are
Boasting cows on grassy knolls
Apples of cider we find
With disregard to the walls behind
So he loses what's rustic refined
And chooses the elf and the crimson shine
when he tells what happens every time,
we don't see the past or the present light
It's our job to find beauty in death
beauty in life
It's our job to find beauty where the grass is brown
beauty where the air is foul
It's our job to show what others can't seem to find
what's hidden inside the light

The More You Know
04:04
|
|||
Stay in, stay in
Keeping the fire out and bring the fire in
I'm just a hermit in a room
Waiting for something new
These walls, these walls
Reflect what I care for
Efface all that I know
Restate the metaphor
Light up, light up
The book and the coffee mug
A frame and a whisky jug
A pane that's all wall
Look out, looking out
The darkness I fought off
is distance to write off
It's soft as a stained cloth
Let the room, the lights go blind
A ghost appears, a ghost
And outside the window
It shows the night glow
The tree and the star flow
It tells me what I know
Make sure,
The more you know, the less you know

Where Did I Go?
02:54
|
|||
I left my homely body searching
For rest and hoping angels yearning
And I lost all of my happy innocence
My home, it wandered free and growing
But where did I go?
A cowboy with a pistol on his hip
Sent me alone to find his grip
I could have left him with almost anything
But all he had was a prayer's whip
I said where did I go?
And how was I supposed to know?
whoa whoa
I stumbled across an open ocean
Riding the ripples in the water
I left my help hiding from enemies
And felt the open ocean's waving
So where did I go?
And how was I supposed to know?
whoa whoa
Caught flailing, I swam just like a fish
While sailing, the sailor took me in
He brought me down, to the only open town
I fled with pockets full of nothing
God, where did I go?
And how am I supposed to know?
I never left my home

Heaven
04:28
|
|||
She bows down out loud, bows down out loud
A high note, a paint brush, a white moth overlooked
"Heaven can't be found, found right now, found right now," they said
His eyes closes, his hands clasped, his ears shut every time
A snowman is seen, a wintery scene, the snowman can feel all that is missed
"Heaven is for me, not for them, not for them," they say
a loud noise, the glass closed, a box glows of ribbons and bows
they lie still, inside filled, they float down like the salt
"Heaven is a place that I know, that I know I'll go"
Heaven can't be found, found right now, found right now," they say
We've got to be, we've got to see, we've got to break through this mold
of factories, inside the mind, the snow is melting
We can bring
The bushes decayed can come to life
The seasons that change can always replace
The rock in ground, the salt in the sea, the heaven above can make itself seen
We can be
The dark is not dark unless there is light
The child can't laugh unless he first cries
The winter can't last through bloom and palm trees
Knights amazed
Guns left home
Time stopped

Sense
04:57
|
|||
Jesus, Jesus, is Jesus more than his name?
They left a number to lend over but it could not stay
Because, because, because all numbers are the same
When long dividers take abiders out of their own place
How do you make it make it make some sense?
Amen, amen, amen is what we ought to say?
When other people make a steeple out of righteous thought
We ought, we fought, we seem to fight a lot
When blinds are open, mouths have spoken, and minds have been closed off
How do you make it make some sense?
I saw, I saw, a man without a human head
His eyes they blinked, his mouth did speak, his body leapt instead
Of mine, of mine, because I did not get
What he was feeling, an unrevealing sense to make a sense
How do you make it make some sense?
